Tragic: Nathan Rumbold, 11, died after being found in a garden pond
A tragic schoolboy has died after drowning in the garden pond at his home.
Horrified relatives rushed to help Nathan Rumbold, 11, after he was discovered in the water at the property in Polesworth, Warwickshire.
According to messages on Facebook, the youngster tripped and bumped his head before falling into the pond.
Paramedics battled to save the youngster, who was flown to University Hospital Coventry by air ambulance, but he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Grief-stricken relatives were too distressed to talk about the incident which happened on Friday evening.
But a shocked neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: 'It really is terrible.
'It's such a tragic thing to have happened to a young boy.
'We were in the house when we heard all the emergency services and saw the flashing lights.
'We couldn't really see anything because it happened in their garden.
'The air ambulance had to land quite far away because of the cables going over the street.'
A second neighbour said: 'I'd just come back home when it was all happening.
'The police blocked the street off and there was ambulances and all sorts. It is horrible to think what has happened.'

Concerned neighbours visited the family to take flowers and express their condolences yesterday (SAT).
'The youngster was well-known on the street which has a number of young families.
Warwickshire Police said they were not treating the death as suspicious.
A spokesman said: 'An 11 year-old boy from North Warwickshire died on Friday evening, after being found in a garden pond.
'We were called by the Ambulance Service to Ridding Gardens in Polesworth just after 6.30pm, where paramedics were treating the child.
'The boy was airlifted to University Hospital Coventry, but sadly he died shortly after arriving.
'The circumstances of the incident are being investigated, but police are not treating it as suspicious.
'The coroner has been informed.'
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed they were called to the tragedy. He said: 'We were called to an address in Polesworth, shortly before 6.30pm.
'Two rapid response vehicles, one driven by a senior paramedic officer attended, along with an ambulance crew and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance.
'An 11 year-old boy was flown to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.'. dailymail.co.uk
